The improvement from Stage 2 tunes comes from the exhaust change. Stage 2 (IIRC) disables the regen process if you get the emissions delete. No regens mean less fuel wasted, and there are a lot less restrictions so the setup breaths better as well. And re: the old Jetta's getting better MPG, those were running 90~100 HP and 149~155 TQ.

Well it might be just the way Malone lists it. Typically going "Stage I" with your car was doing software. Stage II was software with exhaust/intake work. From reading, VW does not approve of 100% bio use. It apparently dilutes the oil and causes issues with the internals. I believe even bio produces PM, which is the main reason for the DPF. It is just the nature of a heavy distillate fuel to produce PM.
