A Fission Reactor is a multiblock structure that generates massive amounts of heat but does not produce power on its own. How much heat is generated depends on the rate at which it burns Fissile Fuel.The only way to transform this heat into power is to inject "fresh" coolant into the reactor and use the heated coolant that comes out to generate power.

NuclearCraft doesn't work like Extreme Reactors does, where (basically) the bigger you build it, the more power it produces. NC's energy production is a function of how hot your fuel burns, and how much your reactor can absorb without overheating (unlike ER's reactors, NC's can melt down if you build them wrong).That way when the fission reactor is full and a proper redstone gate is set, the reactor shuts off at full buffer. This would be mechanically different from the fusion reactor (but then again the fusion reactor was meant to run 100% all the time, even voiding excess energy), so I think it's still a reasonable deviation from previous mechanics.I noticed in your spotlight that when you turned off the fission reactor.
