Most racers don't understand what is really happening when the engine "Hangs " on the converter. I've actually had a few customers run quicker with a P/G than a 3 speed. It is usually a marginal 3 speed with stock rotating weight parts vs a good P/G. The converter not optimized for the 3 speed and the power curve of the engine favors the P/G.
