The barrel is marked as such, New Haven, CT, etc. It also has the WARNING blah blah stamped on the barrel as well. Just wondering what your thoughts were?you can still pick up good shooter quality 336's for $400 or so, pre-safety and JM stamped. A really nice one might set you back $550. I like the 300 grain jacketed hollow points for hunting. These have some punch reloaded with Hodgdon 322 powder. My favorite plinking loads are also 300 grain, but in lead format with IMR Trailboss.

Rifles are no different. I have a Marlin 444, JM stamped that probably never saw 100 rounds fired through it. The action is tight, and sometimes jams during cycling. I attribute this to the fact that the tolerances are just tight. Need to work the action more, but ammo is expensive.
